Default Hogtunes 6x9 lids question

Was wondering if anyone was using the Hogtunes 6x9 lids with the built in water drains with any aftermarket speakers other than what you tunes sell ? Reason I'm asking is because I heard that they will leak inside the bags if you don't use there speakers.

Any coax speaker will have the potential to leak into the bag because of the holes in the woofer for the tweeter stalk and wiring.

The only two companies that I know of that make a 6x9 that will work with the Hogtunes lids that are components that won't leak are Hogtunes and Biketronics.

I had the cycle sounds lids, same as the bagger nation ones, and went with the hogtunes ones. I will tell you from first look the hogtunes ones look to be built much nicer. I also bough the biketronics 6x9s for these lids and have not heard them yet but I could let you know when I get it installed.... Not sure when that would be. But if I were you I would go with the biketronics speakers for those lids. They (biketronics) sell the lids and speakers as a set....

Just got my HT lids painted and they look like high quality. Buy these to cover when raining or at night when in the elements for the coax speakers that aren't waterproof.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Saddleb...355c7d&vxp=mtr

They have an auction every day from this company for the same things so don't feel like you have to bid them up because there is always another auction. Very nice quality.

I have the Bagger Nation/Cycle Sounds lids. They're pretty much garbage.

The fit sucks, I had to double up on the gasket material to seal against the saddle bag lower. When there's not a good seal, there is NO bass. Like at all. So I doubled up the gasket and now I have some bass.

The only reason I'd purchase the CS/Yaffe lids again would be for the 4 6x9 lids. Although I'd rather have the HT lids with another set of by nines firing at each other in the saddle bag bottoms (toward the wheel).

The grilles kinda suck too. Easily bent, but the hardest thing is to get them to sit flush with the lid.

No, but I haven't ridden this pig in the rain. My SG and Dyna were rain-ready bikes, but this one, not so much. And I tape the grilles up with masking tape during a wash.

I'd for sure by the HT setup if there was any chance of wet riding.

I've thought of possibly using some of those magnetic vent covers you can get at Home Depot for your home in order to keep rain off of my lid speakers while in a rainstorm. Stick em inside the bag when on the road at the ready.
