The nice thing is they are easily removed and installed. You have the option to run them when you want to. Maybe as you first get out riding you put them on just to make sure you do not smack them with your boots or the bitter/better half has no issues either.
If you kind of dig the covers but not the red flames try some vinyl or leather dye on the red flames.
I am not a fan of the HD logo sewn in my leather so I just black it out, you still can see it nut it is not as noticeable. Yeah I know why buy it I do not like the logo right? I almost never buy from the dealer, I hunt deals like my 140 dollar mint FXRG leather, 3 pairs of new gloves for 15 bucks, half helmet NIB 25 bucks. Just find the items you like and the size for you At the dealer and go hunting.. Harley has the *****s make some really nice stuff and I like it but never buy new. If I was not so frugally minded, read cheap, I would have Fox Creek or someone make me a jacket and gear but I am a cheapskate and like my dollar to ssttrrrreeeeetttccchhh as far as possible.
Back to the covers, sometimes function over form rules. Want bag lid protection? You now have it. Do not dig the flames, you have a trade offer or can dye the red flames for a more subtle look. Have fun whatever you do, most likely nobody is going to come up to you and say "man those flamed bag lids look like a jar of smashed ******** on your bike you ***". But I bet someone will comment they like them because they are DIFFERENT? Enjoy the new bike and ride the wheels off of it, most of the eye candy crap cannot be seen from the saddle anyhow.
A guy gave me a set of HD covers when I bought the bike. I didn't use them at first but I kept hitting my boots on the right bag all the time which was putting marks across it that looked way worse than the covers. I tried the covers and after much cussing stretching them on they have kind of grown on me. The thing I like about mine vs the ones on the OP's bike is mine fit real tight and you still see the shape of the lid. They Velcro on but I haven't taken them off.
