No AVC, possible idea why...
I have an HK radio that I got flashed for analog speed sensor input by ICA. The AVC never worked, and I figured it was the radio, but I lived with it for a few months. The original RadioSound unit's AVC worked fine. I finally sent the HK back to get checked out, and they came up with nothing out of the ordinary. Iron Cross says it must be something with the bike.
The speedo and turn signal cancellation works just fine, so I've assumed the speed sensor works fine. I have pulled the sensor to clean it off in case it had metal shavings that were affecting it, but found it clear.
There's not a lot in the chain between the speed sensor and the radio:
-Sensor output to speedometer
-Speedometer out to Radio, TSM, and Carburetor connectors.
I have one other issue on the bike, however: since February of last year, I've had a 6-flash error light every time I turn the bike on. Pulling the code, it's an Error 31: Alarm Output Low. There is no security system on this bike, but the main difference between bikes that do and bikes that don't is the use of a TSM or a TSSM.
Now, at least per the wiring diagrams in the service manual, it doesn't appear that the speedo's speed sensor output signal runs in a circuit through the TSM to the radio- it appears as a splice. The HK radio (when in the diagnostic menu) shows a signal input when the bike is moving. BUT, as I'm having an issue with 2 things that get a signal from the speed sensor/speedometer, what would anyone suggest for further troubleshooting before I just start throwing money at replacement parts blindly?
