I ride alone about 90% of the time, I commute daily.I don't mind the occasional group ride big or small but since I work Sun through Thur they're few and far between.I have a few friends that ride but they work too so riding with them is rare.My wife and I usually do about 1 day trip a week and travel on the bike for about a week in the summer. My favorite time to ride alone is O dark thirty, few cars on the road and even less Law enforcement.
Group I work with 90% ride so we take a few jaunts as a group, it is OK and generally fun but not a absolute necessity. We tend to ride to one or another's preference to roads, directions and desires so some of us miss out on side stops to that 'Shiny' spot that got our attention for a moment and miss out on some sights or end up trying to catch up to that "impressive" rider trying to show off his/her prowess at riding too hard for a pleasure ride.
Most of the road trips for the wife and I are solo, have had one ride as a pair with another couple but even that was almost too scripted. I look forward to this year, lots of rides with just the two of us and nowhere in general to be at any point in time. Retirement is but a few years away where we can be gone as we please when we please.
