Actual riding is better alone - but group rides are more fun.
I get a rejuvination cleansing of the soul effect when I ride alone and more often than not theres more concentration that detracts from that paradim when in a group. So for some riding is about the comraderie and for some it's about the clearing of the mind and soul. To each his/her own.
I have some good friends that I enjoy riding with. We've been riding together for years and I trust their lines. Fun group of guys and gals to hang out with. I prefer riding with them. That said, if I feel like riding I ride. I enjoy riding by myself just fine as well. But one or more of them is usually up for it so its probably 80-20 with vs without.
A recent post had me wondering, do you PREFER riding alone or with friends? Why?
read though all the posts nobody like group ride. I ride along from 6am to 11 am then stop at home to see if wife or anybody else wants to go for ride, I do 2 group ride a year because they were friends of mine and I help lay out rides and arrange stops, call to let them know what time we will be there and how many, I'm always glad when group rides are over
With a few friends....some I served with in the Army and in combat, so we have alot in common. I absolutely hate clubs.....just me. I don't like the rules, etc. But I ride with 2 or 3 most of the time. There are about 20 of us, but the 3 of us decide decide not to ride with the bigger group because they ride crazy and we'll just meet them there.
these days is mostly me and one close friend. We have very similar riding styles and personalities. We typically do Sunday rides, a few weekend trips and try and do one long distance ride (7-10 days) each year. Other than that, it's usually me and my wife.
Have done a couple long distance trips with a group of 5 and it got to be a hassle because one guy insisted on riding under the speed limit...he's one of those jump in the left lane and stay there dudes...just have no patience with that crap any more.
