Default softail to touring?

Looking for member feedback from riders who went from a softail to a touring bike. Are you happy? Any regrets? I was looking to put a different seat and bars on my bike (about $1200), and after talking to the parts guy, I went to look at the new stock. I sat on a heritage and it was a perfect fit. So now I am toying w trading in the 09 SG (I just finished paying off) for a new Heritage. Any thoughts? I am 5'08" w a 30" inseam. Thanks all.

I hate to say it...really depends on your age, and if you ride two up.

I rode a fat boy in my early 40's, as I got older I preferred the touring Electra glides. If possible; own both.

You can certainly tour with a Heritage, if you are young, you will be very happy. I would love another softail for day rides.

We went from a `05 Standard Softail to a `09 ElectraGlide standard.Best thing we ever did.

Every now and then I`ll sit on a Softail at the dealer, and wonder how we rode that thing for so long.

I`ll never go back to the Softy.

Really wish we bought the FLHT back in `05.

Went from an 11 Heritage to 13 Roadglide. I loved the heritage, but can't say I regret it. Will probably have another one someday for around town fun, but can't beat the glide for serious trips....especially if you do much 2 up.

I am wondering the same thing except with a 1200 Custom to a road couch. I have a windshield, full floorboards, ISO grips with boss, locking bags, rack, and use a duffel or other bag as a back rest on long trips. Would dropping another $4,000 more and losing 20% of my gas mileage be worth it?

I came off a softie. I ride my bike to work and back which can vary from 100 to 320 miles a day so moving to a touring bike made a lot of sense for me. The Rushmore bikes with GPS was a perfect match.

I went from an '07 Heritage to an '11 Road Glide Ultra.

Loved my Heritage... I would like to have another... BUT, I'll never be without a touring bike...

I am moving from a Fatboy to a 2013 Road King Classic. Get's delivered tomorrow. Got a great deal on the new RKC. I was looking for more long distance comfort but the FB is a great day trip bike.

Came from a softail to a EGC. On rides longer than a hour the Glide wins hands down (after 1.5 hours on the softail needed to get off it). Never thought I would like the radio but I wouldn't have a bike now with out it. Cruise control is a must have on the high way (lets u move both arms around). The windshield on the softail is not that great. I felt beat up after an 8 hour ride, not now on the EGC. Only time I miss the softail is when I have push that darn heavy beast (or back up).
