I just got my first bike, a 2008 Road King. This site has help me so much!
First the bike I purchased had 14" chubbys and the just seemed to rock back and forth way to much. after researching here I replaced the riser bushings with new FIRM ones (also learned how to do that here) and now they are perfect!
Also after much research I went ahead and ordered the Badlander seat even though the reviews were 50/50 loved it or hated it...I just really wanted that look. Besides the bike also came with a very nice Mustang touring seat so I can put that on if the OL wants to ride.
anyway...thanks to all...now off to research lighting upgrades all the way around!
And so the journey begins! Congrats. Have fun. Be careful.
If you haven't taken a riders safety course at HD, consider it.
It will help you protect yourself in ways you never thought of and your new bike too.
Good luck.
ill help ya spend some,07-08 have very tall gearing,a great performance mod is lower the gearing, especialy if u ride 2 up, u can change the rear pulley to 2 teeth bigger,or change the front pulley up to 2 teeth smaller a (labor intensive) or use evo industries 49 tooth clutch basket gear.

Great advise! I took one a couple years ago when I first got my license. They have a level two course I'm getting signed up for now.
Hope you got a red RK...they are the fastest, and best looking....
My Son's is red as well...he says the same thing...but mine is black.

Is there a preference or which should be changed...front or rear? I rode the OL around yesterday and I have to agree...it is geared to high.
Thanks all!

Reason: Bad link...trying to post a pic.
cheapest is the rear pulley 2 teeth bigger should fit stock belt, raise rpm in 6th about 300 rpm. good place to start if ya decide ya want more then do the front pulley 1 or 2 teeth smaller labor is a pita ya got to remove the swing arm.
