Default Should the O2 sensor be connected on a Power Commander V?

I just picked up a 2009 Road King Classic. It came with Bub pipes and DynoJet Power Commander V. This was installed by a Harley shop. While cleaning the bike I noticed the O2 sensor wasn't hooked up. The lead from the tuner has been jumped with a wire. Is this normal? What would happened if I connected it?

That is the same set-up I have with PC3 on my '07 Ultra.
Didn't the shop or PO give you the instructions?

What you have is exactly what I have on my bike.
I've put thousands of miles on my bike since my 2008 install.

Should be OK.
You are now running what is called an open-loop.
You were running a closed-loop.

Thank you, that's reassuring. I'm headed to Daytona on Monday. I bought the bike from a private owner that wasn't very mechanically inclined and had no records.

It's normal for '09. You unplug O2 sensors and put O2 Optimizers into the stock wiring.

Agreed...have had my PC-V on a 2010 and 2012, O2 sensors get disconnected. Was verified by the tuner who created the custom map.

What you have is a "Stage 1" using a canned map I'm pretty sure.

The o2 sensors get plugged in only if you are using the dynojet auto tuner http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynojet-Powe...956b86&vxp=mtr
which works in conjunction with the PC-V.
Otherwise, no.

Is OK to use the O2 Optimizer even if you don't have a PC Commander?

My bike came with the V&H pipes and the heavy breather air filter. All this installed by the previous owner. I found the optimizer (2) from an old PC Commander unit that was in my previous bike ('07 VROD) and put them in my current bike ('08 Softail Rocker). I am planning to eventually get a PCV.
