Hi , my name is Uzek Susol & I live on Orcas island in Washington state, Iv'e rode bikes since I was a kid & have always had one or two since, last winter I built a 110hp custom softail from a softail frame, just found this site & am learning alot about the touring bikes.
The custom is lots of fun but not a great bike for the long trip so I recently bought an 05 Electra glide standard & love it all exept the seat, it's really comfortable for me but it has what looks to be a muffin where the passenger rides & my wife says the lick & stick seat on the custom is more comfortable than the glides seat, I think it's because the passenger sits 8"s higher than the rider & it 's angle twists your hips back so it make you slouch.
I like the look of the Screamin Eagls seats as they are a little lower profile in the back but unsure of the comfort for the rider & passenger, anybody use the Screamin eagle seat on their glide, any input would be appreciated & thanks all for the great site
Hey Uzek - You have touched on something that has been well discussed and covered but the true answer always turns out to be personel choice. I have an 05 EG Classic andI hate the comfort level of every Harley seat I have tried and the search continues! There are a lot of options and a search of the boards will point you to Corbin, Mustang and a host of others - Good luck in your search and let us know what you decide and post some pictures - I would assume that your search will be made even more difficult because of your location - Don't imagine there are lots of bike shops there - I checked where you live on the map and for a guy from New Jersey it looks like riding paradise except for the weather - What are the best riding months out your way and how often do you ferry off the island to ride?
I don't like the stock seat, I like my new Corbin on my EG Standard. My wife on the other hand thinks it too firm. I now have two seats, an Air Zepplin and a Corbin, Air Zep for when she's with me, Corbin for when she is not. I don't like the looks of the Air Zep, too big, particularly without the tour pack. When I have the detachable tourpack, that will help with the looks, though both will be coming off when she is not riding with me.
Kess, the rididng season depends on how bad you want to ride, if you dont mind snotsickles then Jan-Dec but April through early Oct is comfortable with the right gear, June-Aug is the best, I try to get off island as much as possible but not nearly enough, there is some beautiful rides on the island, 35-40mph on narrow twisty roads.
Here is a link to our end of the season bash, it just keeps getting bigger every year. http://www.oysterrun.org/

Blink, on goes the light. Neve thought of two seats. Kat really likes the stock seat on the RG, but it be a little soft for me. I really liked the Corbin on the Dyna. Does anybody know if a Harley pillion would fit with a Corbin single? As I have a Harley Sundowner pillion which she likes but I'm not sure if it will mate with a Cobin.
I have a 05 FLHT standard and have both the 04 and 05 screamin eagle seats. In my opinion the 04 S/E seat is more of a sleek solo seat (like the Harley Badlander) and not for long distance two up riding, it's really comfortable for me but the little woman does'nt like it at all. It's also a little more firm than the 05 seat. On the other hand, the 05 S/E seat is more of a two up seat and is really comfortable with a little thicker and more cushy padding, and it still looks good without a tour pack or sissy bar. The little woman really likes this seat. We recently took a weekend trip of about 700 miles on the 05 S/E seat without any complaints.
Hope this helps.
That sounds great, thanks
How about the 2006 road glide seat, will it fit the electraglide & is it comfortable, the softer the better.
This is not true, the softer the seat does not mean the better. What this does is give you hot spots in about 50 miles or so. You'll be squirming around like a ***** in church pretty quick if you go with a super soft seat.
Not sure if this is what you meant or not, but wanted you to have all the information. Go to Corbins website...they talk about the benefits of a firm seat, they have graphics and the rest, it really does help. That being said, Corbin is about the firmest seat on the market, I love mine, particularly after about 6000 miles, the wife hates it after about 500 or so during that same time.
