so Ive discovered there was no cam chain guide where there should be one,,wondering if this would be making the rattle knock?

Ok, missing cam chain guide, metal shavings on drain plug....see a connection? Where do you think the chain guide went? It most likely got chewed up and has made its way through the engine. NOT GOOD!

That would be a "clue." If you are missing a tensioner then you have big problems. The knock is most likely either a wrist pin, heavily scored pistons or even the lower rod bearing or flywheel bearings. Anyway, it needs to come apart as it probably ran without oil pressure from the tensioner material clogging the oil pump causing these problems
