Ok now Im not sure about the TW-555. Are they worth the extra price? Ive heard andrews are good and cheaper. Im installing the D&D 2-1 fatcats. Are there any cams that would work especially well with that exhaust? Can Anyone recommend Cams for these pipes?
dude your cam choice is dependant on your riding style & what you want to get out of the cam upgrade. some cams supply more bottom end & others more mid to top end. decide first what you want from your upgrade & then start researching the cams that will deliver this.
Do the work yourself. It's not hard at all, and you'll save some money plus gain a whole lot of satisfaction. If I can can do it so can you.
I second this....I was in the same boat a couple of winters ago and went for it myself....with a little push from the forum members. Best thing I could've done. Some help from the forum, service manual, you tube, etc and I was good to go having never done anything like that before. Enjoyable experience and learned a $#!+ton about my bike.
be careful on the labor rate the job pays 4.7 hours most dealers will charge the whole amount even if they cut the pushrods ive done so many now im down to 48 min cams lifters oilpump guides pushrods and bearings it does help to have the right tools

I have run the TW555's in 2012 FLHTK and they did well above 2800. Below they were a little lazy or soft. Went to 30 tooth Pulley and got all the lowend and then some. Raised the compression to 10:5 to 1 and got even better. Saying that the TW555 has a 40 degree overlap and the Andrews 57h has a 32 degree overlap and couple less degrees duration. The 57 will pull much better below 3000 and still have good power above that. Even if they were the same price I would choose the 57 unless I was raising the compression or going to the 30 tooth.
As far as which cams for the pipes is not a good measurement. The D&D 2-1 is hard to beat with stock cams or big boy cams. Good choice as far as I am concerned. The only oddity they seem to have is decel popping, but lots of other exhaust systems pop too. Just make sure the pop is tuned out unless you like the popping.
I'm not sure by the time I bought tools etc. I'd save much. Experience of a better understanding..PRICELESS!
THE ABOVE POSTED VIDEO IS THE BEST 57MIN. YOU WILL SPEND ON THE TOPIC NO MATTER WHO DOES THE WORK! JMHO.
The guy on the video talks about the movement limiter (washer looking deal) for the hydraulic lifters. Claiming this makes them more like a solid lifter. Producing horsepower.

Any thoughts on this?
if you are running high lift or high compression valve springs they are a must
they will fix hot start problems caused by bleed down the drawback is it is hard to keep them quiet I have had a few that I just could not quiet them down wont hurt anything just annoying a loud set of pipes will mask it
I spent most my life turning wrenches, and can say if you wanted work on something and provided your own parts, the only guarantee you would get is for my work, if I screwed up. any part failure be on you.
You don't bring your bacon and eggs to IHOP for them to cook.
Buy the service manual, rent the tools (mine are out on loan now), buy the parts, keep a laptop next to you with the S & S video playing and your have no issues and save a lot of money and know that the job was done correctly......
My local HD dealer will not install anything that that don't order or you buy from them. In most cases they will try to get you to install SE products which is not a bad thing. if it were me I would use S & S products, they offer the quickie rods cams everything and have been around forever or let the dealer do it with SE products.
