Default Street Glide Forward Controls

I've been thinking of going to forward controls on my 2010 Street Glide. I know Jaybrake and HHI both make good looking sets, but they're pricey so I'd like to hear feedback from any of you who've already done this. Install issues? Overall satisfaction? Ground clearance? Etc.

I have a setup on my '06 FLHX which is, to me, the equivalent of forward controls yet gives me all the advantages of footboards, which, to me, is of utmost importance, but I'm not going for a certain look, it's all about the practicality for me.

I removed the Kuryakyn Cruise Pegs from my previous scooter, and bought the traditional style 1" footboards from the P&A catalog. I then fabbed the Cruise Pegs to fit, and because of the 'extended' feature, they did not bolt on as stock, but I was able to cut off the rear mounting 'foot' and have my neighbor run a 1" bead to secure them from moving laterally.

They work great, feel like forward controls, only disadvantage being that the engine guard won't fit anymore due to interference. I put my heel on the front of the footboard, rest my toes on the pegs, good to go mile after mile.

I say a Street Glide a few days ago with what I think is the Jaybrake controls. It looked really good. The owner wasn't around and I didn't want to just throw a leg over someone else's ride to see how they felt.

I have Jay brakes on my '13 and have had no issues. I like the way I'm pushed back in the seat with my legs stretched out (I'm 6'1"). The only issue I had was with their packaging. They use plastic shring wrap and cardboard. I had 3 sets sent before I got an undamaged set. If you accidentally grab too much front brake during a slow turn, they act like a kickstand. Ask me how I know. ...

I have Accutronix forward controls on my '13 SG. I'm 6'3" with 36" inseam. For me it's night and day. More comfortable and controllability. No issues with ground clearance or install. Bought used (albeit perfect condition) from great forum member so price was significantly lower. Will try to attach pics.

TeoSG,
Your Accutronix controls look good. Did you have any fit issues with the engine guard?

Hi peerm13

No fit issues whatsoever with the engine guard or overall install. Very straight forward with no surprises. I'm trying to attach a pic of the brake side...

I had the jay Brake setup on my 2005 Road Glide, emphasis on had. Product was good, nothing wrong with JB but for me they did not put my feet where they wanted to be, kinda high and too close. I had them on for one long run to NH, and after one hour they were a torture device. Could not get comfortable now matter where I put my feet. I returned them and went back to floor boards with retractable jac knife pegs under the boards:

To me this is best of both worlds, boards for around town, push out the pegs on the highway. By the way I use these mac knife pegs almost exclusively on long rides and had no issue with position unlike the JB forwards. I am 6'1" and they really did not work for me, good luck.
