Default SE Hydraulic camplate Kit failure?

Putting my plan together to upgrade my 1999 RKC to the upgrade SE kit 25284-11. There is a company called Ice Cycles who claims that 30 percent of these kits fail the oil and lubrication test which leads to excessive engine noise and premature failure. WTH! They sell the same kit that has been reworked and blue-printed to guarantee it works as it should but because they have worked on the kit you get no warranty.

Has anyone out there heard of this problem with the SE upgrade kit that includes the new cam plate, tensioners etc?

Your help is appreciated.

One I did on my 2000 RK is still working fine 8000 miles later. Quiet and lots of pressure on gauge. (added gauge which comes off rocker top box bolts)

What would you expect him to say???? he sells a completing product.

I can't imagine he has any real number to back that up. what he should say is "I think we make a better product because....." and leave it at that.

The '99 models do not have the same number of holes in the engine block as are on the new cam plate. This requires work to plug one of the holes on the new cam plate. Not sure if this is what they are referring to as the work they do, but if they offer a cam plate "...that has been reworked and blue-printed to guarantee it works as it should...", would they not be the ones who should be providing the guarantee? Surely, you cannot expect Harley to guarantee work done by an aftermarket company...

Also, on many models, people have added a Baisley spring, to assist in raising oil pressure. The new oil pump provides higher volume. The baisley spring puts more tension on the by-pass valve in the oil pump, which in turn supplies more pressure to the oil system.

I have over 23,000 miles on my bike after performing the SE Cam Support Plate w/high output oil pump and hydraulic tensioners, and Baisley Spring. My bike is always getting praised for being quieter than many newer bikes.

I just did a quick search for Ice Cycles, Inc., and just Ice Cycles. I found nothing pertaining to motorcycles under that name...

To be on the safe side you can pull the relief piston and hone it to prevent binding.

When I looked on Ebay today their Ebay name was ICE-Cycle Inc. don't know who they are but I think I will stay clear of them at this time and buy local. Thanks for the great advice.

I've got 12,000 on my upgrade kit- no troubles, plenty of pressure.

I installed a take off cam plate from an 07 Dyna on my 05 EGC when I did cams. It's not as sexy as the SE camplate, but it increased my oil pressure and eliminated the spring loaded tensioners. Be aware that any camplate swap will require new cams, as the stock cams ate 0.75" in diameter on both ends, but the upgraded plate uses cams that are 1.00" on the outboard side. I paid less than half the cost of the SE piece. Btw, your bottom end has good bearings and forged crank, and has a better chance of acceptable runout needed for gear drive cams.
