dealer setup charge?

out here in montana, we say support your local dealer or you won't have one! 10 years ago in montana, there weren't any freight and set up charges! the msrp was your price! the dealers have since discovered the add on fees! i sold yamaha motorcycles the summer of 1985, and the only money the dealership made was freight and set up! those add on fees are part of your purchase discussion, don't let them say they must have them! cheers from montana

Bingo... OTD price is all I care about as well. My last four motorcycles were all purchased between the months of November and April. It makes a big difference here in New England. What I have noticed is they charge for freight and setup and discount the sale price of the motorcycle.

Possibly a business deduction on their federal taxes?
