Was reading through a helmet thread a couple days ago, and the pit boss seemed to rank high on the list of preferred lids.
I Found a deal on last years model for $79 shipped. I got the gloss black with checkers. I found some other bangin deals ($39) but they were in xs sizes. Ordered mine from competition accessories.
My only issue is with the drop down shield. I always wear sunglasses while riding in the day and wanted a clear shield to use for rain or getting home after dark. I swapped out the tinted one for the clear one immediately upon getting it. The clear one has some clarity/distortion issues with lights at night IMO. It's like there is a film on it and head and tail lights have a small starburst effect. Never rode with the stock tinted one, so I can't comment on its optics. My clear shield on the Shoei RF did not have this issue.
Due to a childhood accident, my noggin is not symmetrical. As a consequence, all types of hats fit comfortably appx 25 degrees from dead center. Can these pb lids be adjusted for my circumstances?
All sounds good, except the optics of the clear shield. I currently have an HD half (fulmer) and I have the bolt on half shield on it. Very clear, and never take it off. But my problem with it is a large shuffles around a little, and a medium won't even go over my head. That is why this adjustable system appeals to me.
I am going to wait to see how it fits before I order the clear shield.
I too ordered the PB last fall, this helmet is by far the most comfortable and having the adjustable band makes this fit perfect. My better half hated wearing any helmet cause she said they gave her a headache, I ordered a second one for her and she likes it! She said it didn't didn't put pressure on her head like the other half helmets we've purchased in the past. I would buy this helmet again when it needs replacing.
I have had the PB helmet since about November 2012. It is a great helmet and fit nicely. I did not experience the distortion the previous poster mentioned with the clear drop down. I eventually switched to a 3/4 Bell Mag-9 sena which is nice but not the same as a half helm.
My wife actually use to poke fun at me saying the PB made me look like a Motorcycle cop ( I wanted the matte black but was not available when I bought it and I had no time to wait for it to come in so I got the glossy gray) which resulted in her getting a very thorough pat down so in the end it seems this helmet is win/win on all sides.
Still have it now even though I don't wear it as much but may have to brush the dust off her and put her back in service for the summer.
