I'm looking to upgrade my 2005 road king from 88 to 98. I have already on my bike Screaming eagle heavy breather and screaming eagle slip on pipes. I'm going to have the cylinder bore out by machine shop. Im going to go with cp piston 98. I need help choosing a cam for my bike. My wife and I ride on the bike but when I ride with my boys we ride hard. My friends have a 103 and 110. Im going to have my heads work on also. But my question is what would be a good cam with my combination. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. I dont know if I should get a low to mid cam or a mid to high cam. To tell you the truth Im really confused with all these cam choices.
the heads on the 88 really need help...alot of help.
talk to the machine shop about the heads- if they do not have experience with this, find a local builder who can take care of your heads, the pistons/bore and talk to them about your riding style and expectations, they can suggest a cam set.
I was thinking of having bigboyzheadporting do my heads and cylinders. What I read on them there supposed to be really good. Has anyone had work done by them. I called three different machine shop today in California. They gave me three different answer on cams. One told me the S&S 585 another told my Reaper 525 and another shop told me Andrew 37. Im lost on choosing a cam with my combination. I want a cam that has low to mid power.
im running Andrews 37 with bigboyz heads on my fatboy. very pleased with the build. all the above mentioned are great builders. it basically comes down to you though. how much are you willing to invest? what type of build are you looking for? the combinations are endless, and your head will spin with info and questions......totally normal......snip
Ive seen alot of people running the Andrew 37 cams. Im going to go with big boyz to do my heads and cylinder. Read alot of good reviews on them. Anyone running the reaper 525 or s&s 585 cams
