Largest Harley-Davidson store in the world being built
Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, a 2013 Power 50 dealership, is planning to build a two-story 146,000-square-foot facility in Scottsdale, Ariz.
General manager Justin Johnson said the new dealership will be the largest Harley-Davidson store in the world, reported The Arizona Republic. The new store, expected to open in late spring 2015, will be built on 4.28 acres northeast of Harley-Davidson of Scottsdales current 26,000-square-foot dealership. A former Chrysler dealership will have to be torn down to make room for the new Harley dealership.
The new facility will include a 20,000-square-foot service department, 87,000 square feet of underground parking and storage, customer lounges, an event space for concerts and shaded parking. GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons owns Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, along with Go AZ Motorcycles.
My local dealer just went from a building that they used for at least 30 years maybe longer to a new one which is probably 4 or 5 times bigger. But it looked like there was about the same number of customers when I stopped by after work last night. IDK if Harley makes them do that or he has big dreams? Joe
Think of it like Las Vegas- someone is paying for that...and that someone is the customer.
and maybe the taxpayer.
the various small cities around Phoenix cut their own throats competing for car dealerships, sports teams etc etc with tax give backs.
those taxes are still collected from the customers, but granted back to the business.
So that big shiny dealer may just have potholes out front. ( or they'll call their Pal at City Hall and fill those potholes, leaving the street in front of your home or business potholed)
4.28 acres is not very large. Destination Daytona HD has got to be on at least 25 acres. Of course there's the hotel, bars, restaurants, JP Cycles, tattoo parlor, clothing outlets, covered sound stage, and the outrageous Daytona HD prices to go along with it.
The smaller dealers seem to have the better prices and service IMO.
