I wear HD Boots that lace in the front, zipper on the insides.
Easy on and off.
Lace them to comfort, double knot the laces, forget about them.
Zip in, zip out.
Be sure you get tough, lug, grippy soles!

I just bought a pair of Redwing lace up work boots which I think I like pretty well (other than lacing). I've been a Frye engineer boot fan as well.

I wear Ariat motorcycle boots.

VERY comfortable... but I do not think they make them any longer. Still available online in places.

I also wear Ariat steel toe slip ons at work 15 hours a day...

The HD boots work well for me too. Easy on, easy off.
