I wouldn't consider any slip on boots to fall into the good riding boots category seeing as how they can easily be flung or dragged off in a remotely serious accident.
In even a low speed get off they off virtually no ankle support or protection...

I live in a glass house ... and will pull on some work or cowboy boots for short rides.... but I don't fool myself into thinking that they offer any real accident protection

I like boots that zip up the side. I've got a pair of Harleys (10 years old), and a couple pairs of Cruiserworks. The latter are nice, but expensive, very light and well-made and you can have them resoled for about 90 bucks.

Next time I am going to either have some custom made or look hard at the Bates and Red Wing offerings.

I have a pair of Frye boots that work great. They are pricey, but I used to work for the place that made them and got a deal.

Ive worn Wolverines, Justin lace-up work boots, and just bought a pair of Doc Marten 1460 10 eye lace up boots that Im looking forward to wearing out. Nothing wrong with the other brands mentioned but after 35 yrs of truck driving and using them, I wanted something different.
Hopefully I wont be disappointed because they felt really good when I tried them at the store. The ones I bought were the Virginia leather version. Very soft to the touch on the upper and a little firmer on the rest.
We will see how it goes😁

A very OLD thread but, for what it's worth, I always ride wearing Durango Stirrup (square toed) 12" oiled leather cowboy boots. I like the thick soles and they fit true to size with zero break in........
