After trying to sell the Deuce and my wife's Sportster for quite a while, I gave up and started visiting dealers to see what kind of deal I could make. After sever false starts with a couple of them I finally, last night, ended up trading both for a 2014 Street Glide.
I went in looking for a 11-12 with low miles. They had a couple I liked and we agreed on a price. Then, of course, the manager came over and started talking new bikes. They REALLY wanted to sell me a new one, which, honestly, I hadn't considered. But I was rather shocked at this dealer's OTD net trade diff. |Mgr said they were having a "special", today only, retail trade allowance for retail new. hmmmm. So, the trade difference between a really nice 2012 with 12k miles on it and the new one was....$500. That was a no brainer. And I thought I was getting a pretty good deal on the used one! Rode the 14 home last night and they're coming by to pick up the Sporty next week.
Of course all this took about three hours of negotiating and me getting up and walking towards the door a couple of times but after all was said and done we had a deal. My first new Harley. I've had several I bought used, but a brand new one with only 6 miles on it!! WOW. What a difference in everything between the Deuce and this bike. And even though it weighs what 150 lbs more than the Deuce, the SG handles better, lots better. Can't wait to get it out and put some real miles on it.
I think I need to change my screen name! I'll be taking some pics soon, but as of now it's just like it came from the factory. And I'm loving it.
