Just got my 09 Road Glide out of storage. Fuel tank was empty so I filled it with fresh 92 octaine. It pulls fine from idle to 3300 rpm. Once it hits 3300, it pops, farts and studders. Ran fine when I put it away. I added some sea foam to the fuel, drove 50 miles and it didn't help at all. Any suggestions? BTW, I do not have a power commander.
You just described my 86 year old mother with the exception of the RPMs! Where did it hibernate? Any chance of mice? Also check the usual exhaust and intake leak areas.
Did you use a complete can of Seafoam and run at least a half of a tank through with that mix, may take the whole tank to resolve issue. I also would change spark plugs- I do that each Spring. Seafoam usually seems to work well in my ride. I also try and use non-corn 92 octane as often as I can.
I have always used Stabil and the ( marine grade stabil ) and then also added Seafoam for winter storage with a Full tank.
Man, do I have experience with this! I had it bad between 2800-3200 rpms with my MM EFI. I will tell you with absolute certainty that it is bad gas. Did everything as suggested with NO results. Also, the more crap you add to the tank, the only thing it will do is empty your wallet. From either your tank or sitting in the underground tank at where you filled up, you have some fuel with some water in it. You can try a red bottle of "Heet" to absorb the water. Or (what I would do), is drain the tank completely. I guarantee that with that gas out and a fresh tank in, that problem will go away!
I've learned that in my area especially, to get fuel from pumps that are uphill as opposed to fuel from the downhill pumps. That is where the separated water ends up. Also, I avoid premium fuel from any station that looks like it's clientele base would rather put the extra $ saved from NOT using premium into their meth habit. Fuel that has sat for a while is no bueno. The EPA has admitted that the current fuels are causing these kinds of problems.
