I have an LRS light tint, 8" polycarbonate Ultra on my Street Glide, and the last time I rode it I was seeing a rainbow pattern across the middle of the shield. I contacted James and he responded saying it was a common problem with the polycarbonate shields. He asked what kind of glasses I was wearing, and I told him I had polarized,anti-reflective lenses in my prescription glasses. I really like the LRS shield, but not too crazy about the rainbow effect. Anyone else have any experience with this ? And no I had not been smoking any thing.
If you wear non-polarized glasses you won't see the rainbow effect. Polarized glasses will have the rainbow effect when looking thru certain shields. recommend against wearing polarized sunglasses when looking thru face shield or windshield.
Hi guys! I work for Klock Werks. I own a 2006 Electra Glide and I ride with the 8.5" Dark Smoke FLARE Windshield. I am 5'9" and like the FLARE Windshield the best because it not only deflects the wind and eliminates buffeting, it also adds downforce to the front-end of the motorcycle at highway speeds which enhances stability and handling. I can even hear my stereo much better than I could with the stock 12" windshield. Klock Werks offers free demo rides through their dealers so if you are in the market for a new windshield why not try one before you buy one? I always tell guys to do the free test rides, compare products and get the one you like best.
I have tried the following: Cee baileys Cee Devil 7", LRS Ultra 7", LRS X-stream 7", LRS Stealth 7", Klock Werks Flare 6.5" and 8.5", Clark's Custom 7", and National Cycles V-Stream 7.25". The V-Stream is on the bike now and works decent. It also is the stiffest of them all which limits the waves of air when the shield vibrates. I may try the Freedom Shields Air Curve because it is the thickest shield of the whole bunch. The Flare still had a lot of air hitting the side of my head on the highway, similar to the X-Stream and Stealth. The Flare is also the most expensive by about $50-$60. I have had excellent service from all of them. Freedom and LRS will take the shield back if you leave the protective coating on it, LRS will then send you another shield. Freedom will give you a refund if you do not like the shield.
Anybody tried standard LRS shape and Flattop and have a preference?
I have them both the Flat Top is the best at keeping the wind off of you but gets ugly as hell in hieghts greater than 8". Since I need a minimum of 10" the Flat Top sits on the shelf. Thats MHO

Have a great day guys!!
If you call Klock Werks direct, they will give you 30 days to test ride the windshield. If it doesn't work for you, they allow you to exchange it for a different size or return it for a refund. Call them for details. : )

I demo'd a Freedom 6" air curve on my SG...6" is the proper height for me according to their own measurement instructions and the buffeting was still an issue. I actually prefer my 4" stock shield to it because at least then the wind hits my whole helmet, whereas with the air curve I was experiencing a lot of wind hitting the sides of my helmet right above the ears. Going up in height would surely help, but then I'll have to look through the shield at times and I'm not a fan of that. It is a good quality shield though and I would buy one if I didn't mind a taller shield.
I went with LRS new windblade instead. It has more coverage at the sides, like the flat top, but has the slight flares at the edges to help stabilize the bike at highway speeds. It's supposed to be arriving soon and I can't wait to test it out.

Great that was one of the shields I was considering. Hope it works well for you.
