It's illegal in most states to install on the passing lamps. (unless you have a badge and blue lights)

Steve, what's your basis for that statement? A passing lamp is a headlamp.

Don't do it. It looks like you are flashing oncoming cars in an "OK, I'll let you turn in front of me" fashion. The cagers are confused enough. Don't start winking at them with your headlamp.[sm=forgetit.gif]

Huh?!?? Where did you EVER come up with that from?!? Have you actually seen and/or used a modulator? Ah'm jest an ignerant ol' country boy with 'bout 200,000 documented miles on 2 wheels (primarily Goldwings) since 1996 - but even ah figgered out that a modulator readily assists in gettin' folks' attention - and in NO way gives 'em a "turn in front of me" indication!!!

The modulatorseems to bedesigned to flash about twice per second. Coming up on acagerover a span of several seconds, the headlight would flash so often that I can't believe they would think it'sa signalto pull out.Mistaking you fora cop, now I would suppose that might be possible.

I bought a modulator, didn't install it.Bought auxilary lamps, hope they do the trick and make me more visible.

Bear in mind that visibility is key to me in terms of maximizing safety on the road. An' yeah - ah tend ta "go overboard" with this kinda stuff, which was one of the reasons ah recently modified mah wiring harness ta allow me ta run the spots with high or low beams. BUT - ah also installed the modulator simply because ah want EVERY possible advantage when it comes ta ensuring that ah'm bein' SEEN on the road. Overkill? Mebbe. Thing is, ah've run a LOT of different combo's over the years, an' the one BIGGEST thang ah've noted is that the hands-down "winner" of "SEE ME" is runnin' with a modulator. Ah've seen cars literally stop in their tracks when ah flick the headlights from high-beam only ta modulatin' high beam. Think 'bout all the distracted drivers out thar - between cell phones, PDA's, GPS' an' radios, thar's a LOT ta distract 'em!!

The manufacture of the Back Off brake module also make a headlight modulator. It is a little different from the Kisan unit.

You're quite right, and I probably should've mentioned them. I've never used their unit, but know others that have and have heard no negatives on 'em. I might add that Kisan has always given outstanding customer support, however. When I first bought my UC I contacted both companies asking for information on using one of their units for the spots. Kisan was the only one to respond directly to my query with specific answers to what would need to be done. I'm only a single small customer, so when companies go out of their way like that I appreciate it!

One of the first mods I did on the Ultra. Have never had a single problem. If figure if it pisses someone off.........they've seen me.

Hey PA
Were is the sensor that turns it off when it's dark? Dosen't the unit mount behind the fairing? It definitley looks like a good thing to have.

Can't speak for PA - but I installed it on the right side of the inner fairing, and if you can follow my picture below, you can see it ain't even necessary to remove the front fairing half - thar's plenty of room ta fish the sensor cable in there. The cable plugs into an adapter that slides onto the headlight prongs, and the wiring from the bike then plugs into a corresponding adapter that's part of the harness. We're talking VERY simple installation, and ZERO electrical "skills" needed to install.

Iffen any of ya'll live in mah neck of the woods an' need a hand, jest gimme a holler an' we'll git together.
