I had both headlight modulator and brake light modulator on several bikes. Brake light was great...SUPER easy install (bulb).Seeing that cage rolling-up at 40 mph behind me at a stoplight is one of my daily "oh sh*t" moments (I was tagged5 years ago by a teenage girl on her cell phone from behind...and not in a good way)...nightime of course...makes it so tough to guage depth in the mirrors. LOVE the brake light bulb.

The headlight - I was next to an officer in Denver and asked him through his window what the regulation is on them. He scoffed and said "NOT ok...vehicle modification that violates the 'street legal' definition." Whatever - I think it was as much his opinion as anything...never checked anything "official" about the legality.

I did have cagers get confused by the headlight modulator...I used it on high beam only and would swith ON as I approached crazy intersections...THAT I will do again...but not run with it always on.

Just my opinions from experience.

The officer in CO didn't know what he was talking about . Modulators are legal in almost all states. If you look at the summary of Motorcycle Laws published inside the HOG Touring Handbook you'll find modulator use permitted under the "Daytime Use of Headlight" column.

Stay safe

Within the past 5 days I have come upon three motorcycle involved accidents all within 3 miles of my home. It is very chilling to see that bike laying on it's side in the middle of the road. I've only been able to research one accident so far. 85 year old with suspended license ran blinking red light and T boned motorcyclist and then took off. Returned to scene with wife and tried to convince police his wife was driving. He's in jail. Rider critical. I'm still trying to find info on the others. I asked my Harley guy to get me a Modulator today. He didn't even know what it was. It is a daily challenge. I use my horn a lot but feel I need as much going for me as possible.

Just finished installing the comagination headlight and brake light modulators on my Street Glide. I think they will serve their purpose well. I made a couple of short video's (15-20 seconds) showing exactly what these things do:

The video of the brake modulator shows how even with the turn signal to brake lightkit the modulator only flashes the tail lamp and not the turn signals. I need to rewire mydriving lights so that they stay on when I switch to high beams.

I just installed the Kisan headlight modulator. Just take the headlight trim ring off and remove the screws that hold the headlight to the fairing and unplug the headlight and plug it into the bulb and connector. A separate single wire is used for the daylight sensor plugs in and is mounted where ever it can see the daylight intensity you want to change from modulating bright light to standard bright light. Its a matter of switching the headlight off and on 3 times to set or reset that limit. A real no brainier, so easy I done it!!! Thanks to texasredneck for his info that I bought one. Now, for a small, LOUD horn upgrade.
