Would totally take the cash and wait till a new RG drops.
Would never finance 8-9k on taxes. Think about it. That is just to get the bike.
What about pipes, tuner, and all the other "making it mine" stuff you'll want to do.
Better to plan out the purchase of a new bike later when you have funds etc.

And I would definitely keep the RK. Actually liking and having a connection with a bike is worth more than all the new techno advances in the world.
It's an emotional thing that is probably 90% the reason we even own these things... and the reason some of these guys are still running around on Evos and such.

I've got an 04 RKC and 2010 Limited. Love them both. THE RKC is for short hops 200 or less miles and the Limited is for the long hauls. I do not own a car so I switc off now and again as a daily ride. Ride safe.

I have two different rides, and that's what makes it fun for me. No sure about two tourers though, although it's a nice predicament to be in.

If it was me, I would cash out and wait to see what the RG has to offer. August will come quick.

I would keep both for the time being, but put the RK up for sale.
Put the price you think is a fair price on the RK and if you get what you want out of it, let it go.
That is after you have ridden the SG for a while and have had a chance to see what fits you the best or is your preference to ride. You may want to sell the SG, but I doubt it.

When I bought my SG I kept the softail for a while and then sold it as it was not being ridden hardly at all other than letting a friend ride it who did not have a ride.
I know apples and oranges but you get the idea.
I think you will come to a similar conclusion.

having one bike is better IMO. When I had two bikes both different types ( touring/sport), I found that I only rode the one I liked the best anyway, and that was the touring.
two bikes have maintenance expenses and headaches. Just my thoughts.
Of course keep the New Bike. This is a once in a lifetime blessing.

Tough decision. If you can afford it without having to suffer I would keep both. You could trick out the RK and make it more of a solo bike and use the SG for touring. But if you are really wanting a RG, I would sell and put the cash away for the RG. Good luck in your decision you lucky Bas****.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I think the test ride tonight will be the decider. I have been back and forth so many times it is ridiculous. Today I am leaning towards keeping the RK and cashing out. LOL

I was riding to work thinking this bike is just set up for me and it would be nice to throw a chunk of cash in the bank, but I am sure that will change after my trip to the dealer.

Thanks lp, I agree fully with your comment on the connection to the bike. That is why I am riding an '01 and not something newer already.
