Thumbs up Who has two touring bikes?

Sorry if this question is already posted, I tried searching and couldn't find much.

Let me start by saying I am extremely lucky to be able to ask this question. Saturday I won a 2014 whiskey amber street glide. F'in unreal right?

My question is around what to do. I have 2 options. 1 is take the bike and pay all the taxes up front. FED income, MD state income, and NJ sales/registration (where I live). I would have to take a loan or sell my King to cover all of that, which is fine. My other option is a cash out and keep the money after all the income taxes are withheld. Good too. Either way I win.

My big question is.... For those of you with multiple touring bikes, do you actually go back and forth enough to justify having 2 bikes in the garage?

Right now I am really leaning towards a loan and keeping my RK as I just put a chunk of coin into the motor (105tq, 97hp from the 95") and I really love the colors and set up. That being said, I would hate to get the new bike and find I really only ride one of the most of the time. They are very different vintage '01 vs '14 so I know the SG will ride much nicer.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity... How much would all that cost? It sucks to win something like that, then it costs you a chunk to colllect it!!!!

Send it my way, I'll pay the taxes.

I have 2, a VTX and my SG and Already know the V is not going to get any seat time so selling it and will put the money into the SG.

I have two touring bikes ( HD and BMW) and yes I switch between them depending on my mood. Also, my son can now take trips with me which is wonderful. I'm not sure I would take a loan to pay taxes and fees but that depends on your financial situation. Personally, if I were you and could only keep one of them, I would sell the Road King.

I have a RK (For Sale) and EG. About the only time I ride the RK is when the EG getting worked on. I really don't understand having two touring bikes (unless ya just got too much cash) because there are so many other types of bikes out there for different experiences. My stable normally included a tourer, sportbike and dirt bike when I had the cash and energy. I would take the '14 and sell the RK.

Right around 8-9k. I am waiting to get the final #s back after they do all the math including the NJ stuff which he needed to confirm my address. I will get some of that back at income tax time, but not much. It's still an incredible thing for me, I mean really I would still be getting a new SG for way less out of my pocket, so I am still stoked. I just need to decide on the RK or take the cash now and buy a RG when they put the 15s out. That is another option just to mess my head up more!

Got an 82 and a 2000. Completely different rides. Ride about the same amount of miles on both.

I've had 2 to 4 bikes at a time for quite a few years. My current job doesn't allow enough riding time so looking to sell one of my two. Going to just keep my RK. Think you need an honest assessment of the pros vs cons of two bikes. Double the cleaning, maintenance, insurance, tags, etc. Congrats on the win!
