Thunder-Max Tuning
I want to begin with a disclaimer; I know nothing about tuning or ECM's! I found out that my new-to-me 2006 UCSE has a Thunder-Max ECM in it. My local dealer does not tune a bike with these ECM's in it. They did do a run and I am running a bit rich but other than that they said it was running fine. So that made be think, should I get something better or just let it be.

Your options are going back to the stock ECM (and adding a piggy back or flash tuner), or switching to another aftermarket tuner like the Daytona Twin Tec.
For your year bike the Thundermax with auto tune is a great option. Do you have the auto tune module

Stock HD ecm's run extremely lean. Typically, any aftermarket unit is going to be more rich than stock. But, with that being said, The thunder max is a great piece of equipment. Im assuming you don't have the computer software or connection cable for the unit. Once you have those, you can see exactly what's going on with your bike and have full control of those settings. Not complicated at all once you spend a little time with it. Go to www.cyclesolutions.com and there are several videos there about the the thunder max. Chris Waddell is very knowledgable and I'm sure would help any way he can. Don't just can it until you figure out what you have. I love mine. Btw, any other work done to that motor that may be requiring a little more fuel.

Me personally, if it's running good and feels good, I'd ride the hair off of it and not touch a thing. Better a touch rich than too lean.

Yes, the autotune module stays with the bike. It'll be under your right side cover. If it's not there or you're missing the cable, the software, or the instructions, you can contact Zippers for them. ThunderMax with auto tune is one of the best tuners around. It tunes as you ride.

I'm no fan of the thundermax (old tech) but if it is working ok for ya there is no need to change? Good thing ya got the stock ecm if ya ever want/need to upgrade to proper flash tuner and tune.
