I have 7,000 miles on my Michelin commander 2 and there is 1/32 gone compared to a friends brand new ones, no cupping just wearing great and tons of grip. I will be putting these on again
I just put a rear one on my 09 sg and i love it so far. Better grip and smoother ride than the stock dunlop. I only have 200 miles on it so far, but seemd like a big improvement. And jakewilson is a great place to get tires, cheapest place i've found.
I was already liking mine so far, but had not had them in the rain. The OEM's were good in rain. Well...I got my chance at testing in the rain last week, rode for 3.5 hours in monsoon on the way to Myrtle Bike Week. They performed great. Only got 1500 miles on them right now. Performance, feel, rain...all good. But got to see how many miles I get out them. I had no problem with the OEM's except price.
I have 7000 on my rear MC2 so far. The tire still has lots and lots of tread. I always laugh when people tell me they like the stock tires better as there is an extremely noticeable difference in the smoothness of teh ride with the Michelin's compared to the stock Dunlops. The stock Dunlops do not soak up road inconsistencies and are as hard as s rock making for a rougher ride. I changed my stock rear at 10000 miles as it was badly cupped although it still had some tread left. I had no interest in trying to get it replaced by Harley as I dislike the feel of the tire.
Regardless, I have read complaints as well. IF I get 10K miles out of a rear tire on my bagger I am plenty happy. My buddy got 20K on his EG. We'll see how mine looks in another 3000 miles. I am sure it will still have tread on it.
Friend of mine has one on his Ultra and loves it, he also got 20000 miles out of a EIII and I only got 11000... The CII rode well it performed well in the rain and had no issues with grip or comfort, I just thought I would get more wear out of it... If I go back to a M/C tire after this Austone I will go to the American Elite now that they make a MU85B16...That one and the 888 is the only M/C I haven't tried that I was wondering about....
I tried the new 888's, they handled better than the stock Dunlops but still rode pretty stiff. I got 13k out of the rear tire.
Replaced both tires with the Commander ll's. Night and day difference. They run right over imperfections in the road without upsetting the bike's handling, corner easier with lighter steering input and ride softer/smoother. Getting good mileage out of these tires will be a bonus if it happens, but I'm sticking with the Michelin's on the Limited.
