What is the etiquette for mentioning I have something an OP of a thread might be interested in buying. I see a few threads of people thinking about purchasing something I'l looking to sell. It might be a good deal and/or shorten the lead time for them by several weeks. I've posted in the classifieds but I'm not sure it gets the visibility. They might be on the fence because of cost or availability and finding said item for less might allow them to pull the trigger.
I'm hesitant to mention anything because I'm not sure or the proper etiquette for this.
is it inapporpriate, if someone has stated that they are interested in an item that you have in the classified, to state that you have that item up for sale in the classifieds and send a link to it?

I would think it would be appropriate, and if I was the person saying I was interested, I'd want to know, in case I hadn't thought to look in the classifieds.
I've just posted in the thead that I have the item. Usually answer their questions and then include that note. Could pm but whatever. I treat this place as conversation between riders.
If you have something for sale and somebody wants it, tell them. I would also recommend telling them your likes/dislikes of the part in the post so you don't seem like a salesman. Providing a link is also acceptable. It's only inappropriate IMO if you hijack a for sale thread, or if all you post in this section of the forum is that you have a part for sale. Be a contributor.
Just create a new thread for your item.
If the person really, really is looking for that item, they will find your thread...
I'd would not PM a person. Could make it look like you're willing to part with whatever on the cheap in desperation.
And let me tell you... there are some really, really low balling "Buddies" out there. It's comical.
