I can tell you from experience, if you fill it to the full mark, on the stand and hot, it will be over filled and will launch the oil cap at high rpm!

 

Right, should be on the jiffy and measured halfway between the marks...not filled to the full line.

 

I have 74k on my 07 Street Glide. It used about 1/2 quart every 5k, now I add 1/2 quart every 2-3k miles now or about a quart every 5k miles.

 

I just added oil to mine, back halfway on the "low to full" area, and it took 12 ounces. I've noticed a very slight oil contamination on the front spark plug after 5k of use, so my planned build this winter is right on time....
