I upgraded the levers on my 2012 street glide and now I can't start the bike when it's in gear and the clutch lever is pulled in.
Not to insult you, but you reduced the cable slack, correct? 1/16" play in the cable ferrule at the lever perch? I'm curious if you pinched a wire from the housings somehow while you replaced the levers (if in fact you opened the housings installing them). I replaced a brake lever once (dropped bike and broke it) spent days trying to figure out why it wouldn't run, only to find out I pinched and shorted a wire in the right side control housing.
Adjusting your clutch is not the problem, you have a safety switch that's suppose to be depressed when you pull the lever in and your not getting it pushed in. You'll have to add some material to your lever. Look inside the housing and you will see it.

Obviously, I'm not a touring rider, but when did Harley put this "feature" on bikes, and when did they do it? Was it done to all bikes after a certain year? I see this issue relatively often in here.

Exactly right about the clutch safety switch not being activated with the new levers.
'07 was the first year for the touring bikes, but the police models had it before then. Not sure the first year for them.
