Default Speakers for a non-fairing motorcycle

I ride a '12 Road King and was wondering about adding some music. I saw this JBL bluetooth speaker the other day and wondered if it could be heard at 75 miles an hour.

Anybody got one? Ride in the rain with it?

Sure, get two of them and Velcro one to each ear.

I can't believe I beat John to it but on my softail, I used J&M self amplified speakers along with an iPhone mount and they were awesome. Mounted to the controls. A bit bulky but you get used to it.

My wife has the Boss MC 400 system and it works great for her. Can be heard at 80 with a full face on. They mount real nice to the windshield brackets and the amp under the right cover.

Joe, the Powder Pro and a forum sponsor, has a bag stereo that might work for. I see the kits for sale in the classifieds once and a while.

RE OP's comment:
[[ Although, I am hard of hearing in both ears, so that just might work......... ]]

A suggestion that will be different from the rest:

Get a -good- full-face helmet (I said a "good" one), and put a bluetooth communicator unit with internal ear speakers into it. Sena makes good ones.

My guess (and it's -only- a guess) is that with slightly diminished hearing, you're not gonna "get much" from a "strap-on" speaker setup...

I've not heard that one, but I've heard either their Clip or Micro (http://www.jbl.com/estore/jbl/us/pro...atId=cat240040 or http://www.jbl.com/estore/jbl/us/pro...atId=cat240040 respectively) and was quite impressed with the quality and volume of sound. I have been considering buying one for use on my Road King. I have no doubts about being able to hear it while riding. Perhaps not when next to a semi riding his jake brake, but with my stock pipes, I'm sure I'll be able to hear it just fine most of the time.

They are not waterproof, and I would expect trying to use it in the rain would destroy it.

The internal battery is good for several hours, but not enough for an all day ride. Power connection for that would be needed. Micro-usb.

As the signal is mono, there is no need for two as stereo sound cannot be achieved with these units.

All kidding aside, I have had Kuryakyn speakers and at speed you can hear it, but it has zero base. The stock Street Glide system has ok speakers, but unless you have a 10" windshield and every wind deflector on the planet its just ok. Don't think that helps but maybe just gives a little perspective. IF you can still hear things around you, I would think the helmet setup would be much better. Only thing I would worry about would be not hearing a horn or siren. I would think that they are designed to let in outside noise but I don't know.
