Supercharger
I am looking at spending about $4,000 dollars for the one I need and I would probabl end up putting it on myself.
Like 04' Harleyboy said, it would be the torque that I am after, the horsepower doesn't hurt either.
I was looking at maybe saving the money and buying a 2nd bike. Maybe like a Triumph Rocket III because of it's massive torque (147ft/lbs) and Horsepower (140 hprse) set-up.
I am not sure, that is why I addressed the "Forum".
Thanks for all the input!!!
Get an old Evo frame and build a streetfighter around that S&S mill....
Just my 2...
I try to talk most people out of such projects but there have been exceptions, you decide.
Unlessan engine is built for highboost, the performance increase due to thelimitedboost capability of the stock engine, the cost Vs performance increase is usuallyquestioned.
The tune is everything, ifnatually aspirated bikes are having trouble with canned tunes, boosted canned tunes are worse, yet more critical. For the neededcustomdynotunes, do you have a knowledgeable, experianced boosted V-twinapplication tuner ready? Most of theHD world is still wrestling with simple EFI,most arenot ready for boost on top of that.
If you study the HP/TQ graphs from ProCharger, note that the largest performance gains are in the higher RPM ranges, is that where you want it? Also note that the peak HP (peak performance) is at redline. Remember, he who can average the most HP in each gear will out perform he who cannot, all other things being equal. Such a HP curvemay provide you with a "dyno queen" but not a bike that will perform like the numbers indicate that it should
Like any engine that can produce more then one HP per cubic inch, it will be very finicky, issues that would not be a problem on a lesser enginemay not be tolerated by this one. Are youwilling and capable of tending to all of itsdemanded TLC.You probably can't hire it done.
An engine designed for example,100 HP that puts out 70 willusually be more reliable then an engine designed for 70 that puts out 100. Are you ready for "weak link engineering"?
There is not another bike that I would tradeour turbo chargedHarley for because I am willing and capable, but there is a simpler, but less affectivealternative - cubic inches.
Spoken like a man who prctices what he preaches. The info you have provided really helped to shed some light on what direction to head.
Thanks again for all the help!
I am a naturally aspirated fan in cars and bikes. With bikes, you can build to the useable (streetable) RPM range for your power and style of riding. With cars, it is just cool.....feeling the ground vibrate...listening to the motor struggle to idle....smeel that unburnt fuel and rubber....I gotta go take a cold shower!!

I think he is feeling more than the ground shake!!!!
Good luck on your decision,
RJ
