800 miles later
I had the transmission out a couple of weeks back to replace the main output shaft bearing, there was so much on the drain plug it was crazy, while I was there I swapped the IPB for an upgraded All ***** bearing and race.
800 miles later and the transmission is perfect, smooth shifts, no grinding or scraping noises that apparently only I could hear, no leaks, at 42,000 miles I can hear fifth gear whine for the first time. All other bearings, shift forks etc were good, I also put 75/110 gear oil in there as well as we are getting into the hot weather. Glad I caught this before a catastrophic failure, when I pulled the output shaft the bearing split and spilled its guts into the case.
Bought the specialist tools from George's Garage, great quality and service from George.
