Default Wobble on Riders Passion Fork Top Lock Clock

Has anyone tried fitting a "Riders Passion Fork Top Lock Clock" as sold on Ebay and else where by 'honestyintegrityalways'?

I bought one, fitted it and it wobble a hell of a lot. Enough to rattle at tickover.

Spoke to the seller and he said he could tighten it up. Sent it back and then without any discussion he refunded my payment ... but not my shipping and charges either to me or back to him note.

He claimed the movement was normal and 10 thou ... this is way more than 10 thou.

Does anyone else have one and can they comment? Does your wobble so much?

It's a shame because it's a classy looking object and matched the Road King well ... but if it flops down or rattles it's no damned good at all.

Thanks

Here's a link to the video I showed him, before he got me to send the item back.

You can see at the beginning, it drops down as far as to be off centre to begin with.

But that's the biggest .010" I've ever seen in my life ...

I got one that looks like that off ebay a few years ago. Have no idea of seller or maker but it looks & works fine. Did have to replace the battery a while back.

Interesting after note ...

I sent the item back to "be repaired" and the Ebay seller immediately and without consultation gave me a refund ... but only a partial refund without asking.

There was never any discussion of this. Indeed, I've still got the now useless watch piece part of the item.

... And I'm down about $40 in shipping and charges both ways.

Just a little update and warning for others on this ...

The saga continues on with Mr "honestyintegrityalways", as he calls himself, now lying directly to Ebay in the Dispute Resolution process.

I showed him a video of the item and he invited me to send it back for repair.

As soon as he got it, he kept it and gave me a PARTIAL REFUND only straight away ... no discussion, no request, no warning. I wanted a good clock.

I'm in $88 and without asking he give me 50% of that back. I even have the clock part still here because I expected the mount back as we agreed.

Now he's ignoring that I only sent it back to be repair and telling Ebay that he gave a full refund which is just not true.

For someone who calls himself "honestyintegrityalways" ... and includes a load of religious material with his product tell me how *I* need God ... to act in this way is just too much to stomach.

From the pictures, I clearly got sent a faulty one - it flopped down below horizontal - and it looks like they just plain tricked me into sending back to pull this stunt on me thinking they could get rid of me instead.

Be warned. It takes a really practised trickster to come up with a stunt like that. All the conversation beforehand was perfectly civil.

I had one of those on an '05 RK and it fit tight and didn't vibrate. As I recall it had a big rubber O-ring the helped hold it in place. Does yours have an O-ring? If not take it to Home Depot and see if you can find one that fits.

Thank you. That's useful to know. I'll check out the Marlin.

What for sure is this guy knows how to "play the game" on Ebay. He tricked me into sending an items back for "repair" immediately gave me a partial refund, and then lied black to Ebay that he had fully refunded me.

For the record, I won the dispute resolution and got one way shipping costs off him - the Paypal record clearly stated "partial refund" though on his Ebay feedback he still claims he sold me a flawless item and completely refunded me.

I'm still down $33 which I don't thank him for.

I got mine from www.clocks4bikes.com and never had an issue. Good luck with your situation. Sounds like he's playing the "ebay game", as someone said earlier. That sucks.
