Everything in that area is a good ride! Arkansas Highway department got smart a couple years ago and paved all the curves on most of those roads.........tar snakes were scaring the crap out of riders Also pretty good BBQ at the Rockin Pig Saloon in Eureka Springs.
Looks like most of the rides have been covered. I am from Joplin MO and NW Ark is just about the only place I ride. Ponca to Jasper is incredible, so is Talimena byway, Hwy 7 south of Jasper, the peel ferry, on and on. The good rides are too numerous to list. Stay away from MT. Nebo. I drove up it in my truck and was glad I wasn't riding. Only one way up or down and it is f**k**g treacherous! I got too much money investd in OL BLUE to lay her down on some crazy *** road like that. Maybe on a more nimble bike, but not a heavyweight. Enjoy.
Mt Nebo is really not that bad, yes, there are several 180* switchbacks but have ridden them on my ultra many times. What I do like about them is that it allows you to practice good turning at slow MPH's. On the way down I just leave in Neutral and coast. I am sure you have taken "OL BLUE" on 123? That's one of my 10 best favourites!
I ride to Arkansas several times a year from Decatur.
I suggest you ride from Ft Worth - Denton - Sherman - Paris - Talihina, OK. Take the Talihina Trail to Mena. The ride starts getting nice as early as Paris. There are soooo many great roads in Arkansas you can't go wrong from Mena East and North. I frequently ride from Decatur to Mena, spend the night in Mena and ride back. Great 2 day ride.
