Lesson learned. It's now on the official "to do list". I have no intentions of doing this again without a tool, whether it's homemade or bought

HMMMmmm...$25 crafted/chrome plated tool vs. $3 in copper...I'll take the $22 savings. Been using mine for 3-yrs and still functions flawlessly and I found the copper in a dumpster by home build (copper water line).

Bought the Marc Barnes tool a few years ago, works awesome and its been used by myself and lots of buddies. If you don't want to spend or cant afford $25 then yeah, make a copper one.

I added the George's Garage Ignition Switch Alignment Tool (GG Part Number 659900, Replaces HD Part Number HD-45962) to my tool chest a few years back...one of the best investments you could make when talking about specialty tools.

Can be found here...http://www.georges-garage.com/chassis_tools.htm
