The AAFES new car sales folks will tell you the extended warranty is bundled with the price of the bike. It's not. If you don't want it, say so and it'll knock $1K of the cost of the bike. If they won't do it, PM me.

I like the SG more than a Standard. You pay a little more, but the radio, and lowered suspension compensates for it. I also like the black motor.. shows of chrome better IMO. If you are going to ride 2-up, you MUST change out the seat, and add a detatchable back rest. We rented one for 4 days in Hawaii. On the 2nd day, anfter 6 hours of riding, the wife was in tears. She's used to my Ultra.

do this, better and less expensive in the long run---wish I would have done this instead of getting the 07 SG

ORIGINAL: Cryptoboy

I say get the Classic and puta detachable kit on the Tourpak! Then you get the best of both worlds betwen the SG and EG Std, for about the same price as the SG (a little lessbased on MSRP rates). If you plan on doing any long distance riding that's the way to go!

Kinda the direction I wished I had gone (they didn't have a SG when I bought my Standard). But, I love my bike regardless!

I wouldn't buy the Standard cause i don't like the silver paint on the engine and I don't like the non chrome engine parts either.
Adding a stereo to the Standard isn't the same as having one from the factory with the controls at your fingertips.
I like the Ultra with a detchable tour-pac.
If I where buying now, I'd be deciding between the FLHX and the Classic.

I bought the EG Standard a year ago and I really love my bike. I will admit the aluminum engine is a biotch to polish, but to me it's worth it. I've added the stereo, detachableking tour pak, chrome rails to the lids and sides of the hard bags and to the lid of the tour pak. I've added the gold eagle live to ride accessories and diamond plate grips, foot board inserts, brake pedal pad, and shift pegs. Now, every now and then I like to change it up a little so I remove the tour pak and put the detachable fender rack on. It gives it a clean look. And as someone else said, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton, and ZZ sound real sweet when hittin' the curves and long back roads.

Good luck and ride safe.

Got the Chrome,
Sony Stereo works great with fingetip controls
Chopped Tour Pac detaches in about 5 seconds.

Just a matter of if you want a cookie cutter bike, or customize it yourself.

I've owned a 06 SG and currently own an 07 UC.

I liked the handling characteristics of the SG much much better than the UC. It handled the road and curves 2x better.

The UC is perfect for long cruises with a rider.. but if you aren’t looking for passenger comfort, you will LOVE the SG....

with a few mods to the UC (or few upgrades to the SG), you can have a SG but then again, your paying 2k more... and removing 2k worth.. so where is the value.. buy the SG if you want the look and performanceof a SG...

My Standard came with the finger tip controlls, deressed it up from e-bay and saved a bundle. I love the standard, just my 2cents.
