What is the best way to lower a 07 Road King Standard? I want to keep my ride quality. I also want to keep my cornering ability. I tour two, up as well. Are the shocks on this thing 12 or 13 "?
Shocks are 13" on the standard. I lowered my forks 1 inch and sent my seat off to Meancity cycles and had it shaved down 2". I have the custom and the shocks are 12". I love the look and how I sit on the bike now.
This setup works very well, we've done quite a few at the shop and it won't affect your cornering
Sams advice is very good. You can also order a lowering kit that can drop the rear of your bike one or two inches from kits like TJ Products and Arlen Ness. Very easy install, and you get to keep your softer riding longer shocks.
