My bike is with Jamie now. Pick it up Friday and can't wait to feel the results of the 107 with level B heads, clutch kit and the rest of mods. Waited a few years to do this only because I was in Alaska.
Want to really CRUSH you some Wingers? DO a 120r like I did, or do a low compression S&S 124.
107 touring type reliable build won't do it. But... a 107 will keep you in the game.
NOTHING wins like cubic inches. Gold Wing is 1834 CCs. 120r is 1962 CCs. 107 is 1753 CCs. 124 is 2032 CCs.
I thought my 107 with Andrews 54s was hot ****. A LOT less downshifting, etc. That was until I was riding in KY and had a wingie pass me on a 6% hill like nobody's business.
Now? I can do 95 with cruise and I pass wingers. (must have TTS tuned bike to do 95 on cruise).

Did a stage IV back in oct of 12, great for 2up touring plenty of power, 40+ mpg 18000 mi and counting. Runs great in town and on hwy. Went with HD with no regrets but lots of after market builds do great. The added power touring is great!
I agonized over this when I did my cam last summer. I liked how much stronger the cam made the engine and my mechanic tried to sell me on a 106 kit next. This is my first big twin of any brand so I wasn't feeling that inadequate being left behind except one day when a Concours 1400 walked away like my motor was off. I know how powerful those motors are so I got over it pretty quick.
The thing that put it over the top was a slight oil seepage on the front of the motor. I knew I had to take the top of the motor off anyway so I planned to replace the cylinders. The project ballooned into an entire top end. I'm happy I did it. I even chose to replace the exhaust. It only remains to get a proper tune.
No disrespect, but i own a 09 ultra cvo and a 2013 connie 14, if you are doing this upgrade to try and hang with a connie i hope you have some seriously deep pockets! I use the connie mostly for commutting and when i get on my HD i feel like im riding my grandsons powerwheel! Admitdly i am looking at changing the cams in the hd and doing some head work, but i am trying to get rid of the hot engine and pinging that hd left me with in 2009 when i bought this.
That connie is seriously fast and i dont know many touring harleys that could hang with it, they are just that much different. Do the update if you want but keep in mind it is a big heavy bike and wont change into a sport tourer.

OK, so let's say I decide to go down this road. What all am I looking at? Looks like $6,200 for the S&S engine. Any ideas on installation costs? What other miscellaneous parts am I going to need? Will my PCV still work? It will obviously need to be re-tuned, right?
I also assume I would sacrifice some fuel efficiency to get the extra horses. Anybody with the 124LC that can give me an idea what kind of MPGs you're getting?
All I can say is my cases are buing built to a LC 124" right now and at about $5700 plus $500 for a Bandit Sportsman clutch. I will have to dyno it and thats about $300.
If you are considering it, do it. I have a 2012 Ultra Limted and had the 107" build done in December. Totally different touring bike. Sure, it now accelerates from a stop to 100 like crazy but more important to me is the overall touring performance. It now pulls in 6th gear uphill so no more downshifts. Great passing power and I can do all this 2-up. I also believe the bike is MORE reliable as it was built by one of the top builders in the US and we used top shelf parts. My bike now has more power than a Goldwing. From a power standpoint it's still not even in the same league as the K1600 though.
I have a little something in my bike too but those k1600gtls are nice. 160+ stock power is hard to compete with.

I know what you mean.
It is nice to be able to climb the Sierra mountains, 2 up, loaded with gear in 6th as fast or as slow as I want.

Your bike is going to fly. I want to see it when done. I will buy breakfast at Margie's in paso off of 46 when you get it done.
