I'm already pretty happy, but what would you suggest adding to a 103" w/SE255's?
Above all, I want my bike to have good street manners (no pinging, excessive heat, etc.).
Thanks
The 255 cams run on the hot side around town. So they tend to want to ping if the motor is is hot and not properly tuned. They are a great torque touring cam but not so great around town driving in traffic. You can tune the heat out of them but like everything there is a price to pay. I like my 255s but I spent a lot of time working on pinging and heat issues. If you are out touring in the mountains and not sitting in traffic nothing beats them. If you do a lot of in town riding and sitting in traffic there are probably better picks. My understand is the 254E cams are a little better with heat management at the cost of shifting the power band a couple hundred RPM to the right. They came out after I installed the 255s.

I"m a big guy so I'm like riding two up all the time. I bought my used 2008 SG knowing I would ride the 96 for a year then do the FM107 build. It runs fantastic. The base tune they sent me was a great start and the PV tuner has slowly made it run better and better.
And as a reference as stated that the 103 is also good, well good yes but coming from a 96 you are going to love the 107. I had a run against a 103 on a dyna style bike with no bags and only his bike (small guy too) against my fully loaded (luggage) Street Glide.
As he put it, "Wow, I shifted down, you shifted down and then you were gone like I was sitting still. Just your taillight twinkling up ahead" Lol . And then , "I WANT A 107"
I don't need the fastest bike as long as I"m not the slowest. LOL
Why a 107? You feel that sounds better than a 110"? Why stop there...but what if they still 'walk away' from you.....just get a Goldwing for cripes sake.
I leave plenty of CVO 110 guys scratching their heads.
I was doing that with my 98". It pissed off a couple of them. It's even easier with my 120" One problem though is I've been looking at new bikes and I would have to give up the big motor....at least for the first year until I put the funds together to do another build. I keep telling myself I won't on my next bike......but I know I will.

A well tuned 107 with a little head work will leave a Goldwing behind. Mine does.
