Bought an ebay rear fender extension, paid a little more for it thinking it would be easier to install but it doesn't even have any holes in it. I emailed the seller and asked him how to mount it and his answer was pretty much "with bolts", and that's all I could get out of him. So if anyone can give me some info it would be greatly appreciated.
those ebay non brand fenders are for shops to do... can you do it at home? sure if you are very handy or have experience... those are considered "builders" fenders... lots of prep and fitment.
Yes Pitbull 2411 that style of rear fender extension. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271512588464?lpid=82 I am installing it on a 01 Electra glide and I am going to mount it with a auto body shop's help. Them and myself have never installed one and do not know what the best hardware to mount it with is. Such as nuts and bolts, pop rivits, adhesive, or what ever. I know we will have to fill in the fender tip holes which is no problem.
I'd think the Street Glide hardware would work. Need to get 2 stud plates part No: 59818-09 and 6 nuts pn 7499. You'll need to drill three holes in your fender these stud plates fit(inside fender)t through and attach with the nuts on fasia side. Go this link OEM HD Partfinder lookup '09 Street Glide rear fender & see pic items 21 & 6 part numbers I mentioned.
Thanks folks I appreciate the feedback. I wish I could find a body shop that had some experience with it but here in East Tennessee the custom bagger shops around here are few and far between. May have bit off more than I can chew but I'm going to give it a shot anyways.
