09 flhx headers
Hey guys I know about the search button was just wondering I picked up a 2009 flhx with a ness big sucker air cleaner and screaming eagle slip ons.as per prior owner was tuned also.question I have is if I wanna just swap out mufflers do i need to put a power commander or anything else like it in the bike.Or do I have to re tune it with the new mufflers on it.Also looks like stock head pipe has some discoloration at the top does that mean it is running a bit to hot...thanks and sorry for ramblimg on this touring stuff is all new to me.......
headers get hot, the metal discolors- that is why they use chrome covers.
for 2009, 49 state models had no cat in the header, CA and Int'l models did...the VIN will reveal which version you have...or tap on teh header with a pen from the exhuast port down.
tink, tink, tink, clunk means cat.
most slip on "performance mufflers" will act about the same- if it runs good, it'll probably run equally well after the swap.
you should determine how it was "tuned"...if the ECM is flashed or has a download...adding a power commander will complicate matters ( a pushme-pullyou 2 headed beast).
so swap slip ons and proceed
