Less than a year ago I got my SE compensator replaced in my 2011 Road King. It's been acting up for quite some time lately, (bike surges, misses and basically runs like crap). The local indy supplied it, installed it, plus is a certified repair dude.
Now, when I go back to him is he obligated to offer to put another one in and I pay a portion? How long is the warranty on something like a 42200064A or is that likes brakes.
I can't wait until tomorrow to ask dealers etc.
Can't tell you how much warranty you have, but I can tell you don't put him on the defensive side buy telling him that is the problem.Take it back to him and just let him see what the matter is,because it may not be the compensator that is the problem. If it is then see what kind of warranty you have with him.
I know it shooter5074. I'm grasping at straws, been like this for 2.5 seasons now and when he changed out the comp last spring, my troubles all but disappeared but now it's clunking and consequently so is the surging etc.

In your first post you said misses and surging. Does it sometimes act like the ignition is cut off for a split second and then the bike lurches?
If so, clean the connector on your ECM, and also the one on your TCA on the Induction module. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the pins and reassemble.

I stuck a new TTS module in the saddle bag and rode around for quite some time data logging and everything my guy that dyno'd it came back negative. All components look to be functioning as normal, that head temp sensor behind the horn, O2 sensors, injectors, timing, everything that makes it run and he thinks it's mechanical and I agree, but might as well start where the clanking has come back, this time with the Hayden and possibly a new prim chain too. No codes thrown plus I did buy new Accel spark plug wires. I'll tell the mechanic who will do the comp what you said to do shooter5074, thanks for that!
I tend to relate surging to the tuner or a pin hole in the fuel line in the tank. Had that happen on my 02 fatboy twice. It's fine when full of gas but when the gas gets below the hole in the fuel line it runs sporadically and surges. Fill it up with gas and it is back to normal until it gets to a certain level. The second time this happened the fuel pump would make excessive noise on startup as well. The first time no excessive noise, just surging.
for the trouble that you are having, I'd go the stock wires and plugs as the ion sense function in the ECM could be getting bad data.
other than that, you have a tuner and someone came up with the settings- what mods do you have- can you confirm that the settings you have entered are correct?
if close to stock, try going to stock settings and see if the situation changes.

That makes sense Hogpro but in my case it's all the time, and I mean all the time, highway it's better but 20-40 mph it's a rockin'!!!
