any idea weather it's worth $500 to upgrade to a high performance charging system. Looks like you can go from ~38 amps to ~54amps.
my bike has all the options, heated seats, grips, lights, radio, etc.
I think i just lost my stator. (replaced the voltage regulator and still get DTC0562, low battery voltage)
just wondering if I should buy all new high output charging

I would think you already have the higher output charging system? I thought all the touring bikes had it after 2008? Especially with all those options I'm sure a c v o model would come with it already? Maybe your battery is bad?
Go to the Tech Electrical section, where you will find a couple of Stickies on checking your charging system. That will identify if you have a problem and what it is. Do that first! As CBB suggests you probably have a high capacity system already, in any event your owners manual tells you what your charging system is.
he spent the $1300 at the dealer over multiple visits- then came to me, 'cause he knows i have bikes.
I found the bad cable which was destroying stators and VR's.
$12 for a cable at autozone.
yes, thanks.. the CVOs have the 45amp system.. but heck, I killed mine.. trouble shot down to a grounded stator... 28,000 miles, little less than 3 years.
