smoke on acceleration is worn piston rings/ bad piston to cylinder seal
smoke on decel is high motor vacuum pulling oil is from the top end- usually valve seals- but if you have a crack...
diagnosis by introducing compressed air into the cylinder from the spark plug hole.
warm motor best as the parts have expanded to fit ( like rings), air pressure about 100 psi
rotate motor through cycles and ensure that the air is escaping from the right place at the right time.. you can pull the pushrod covers and see which valve is doing what
from exhaust on exhaust stroke, from intake on intake... and no air escaping on compression stroke

Dropped the bike off at the dealer today. Shop foreman informed me that my ESP will only repair the affected cylinder. Why would they not do both? Only makes sense to me.
