Backrest install help...
Thanks for any help.
[ol][*]remove seat and both saddlebags.[*]under the seat there will be two stud bolts coming from underneath the rear fender, remove the nuts and attach the rider backrest mount to these bolts. Fasten the nuts to secure this mount. There will be a center piece on the mount that attaches closer to the battery. You might have to purchase a J-type bolt/nut for this. Any hardware store will have it.[*]If the backrest comes with the rear (passenger) mounting hardware you are set...if not get it from HD. I am not sure of the part #, but tell the parts guy that you need the passenger backrest mounting hardware for a touring bike. Seems like its about 30$ or so. If you also want a luggage rack (big luggage rack) that HW is about another 40$ or so. See my attched pic. Item 1 is the backrest hardware. Item 2 is the luggage rack hardware.[*]Use the attached pic as a guide. You might have to 'play' with the spacers to get the proper clearance to allow the backrest to fit.[*]Everythin is bolt-on, bolt-off and should line up with the existing pre-drilled holes in the frame, fender, etc.[/ol]Hope this helps.

If you are getting the OEM HD backrest (rider and passenger) then here are some basic instructions and pics. Any hardware store will have it.[/ol]
The backrest takes two mounting points on each side of the bike and if you put the premium luggage rack that takes two more on each side.
The middle pic i send is where the rider backrest mounts. The big plastic washers on the rear fender accept the mount and the J-nut accepts the front portin on the mount. AHHHHH. i guess that is the 3rd point you mentioned. There are some adjustments you can do on the rider backrest mount. It has 3 sets of holes. Depending on if you want more room or more passenger room.
