i have made up my mind to switch to the ovals...now do i go with the true duals or just the slipons for now.
the part number from the internet was #16727. this number said it fit everything but the FLHX, so i am guessing it still does right??
looking on ebay i can get the slipons for right at $400 and the dual headers for just under $300. from a place called American Classic Motors, has anybody heard of this place or done business with them?
just trying to get my duck in a row before making this purchase. went a little fast on the first exhaust.
p.s. there will be a SE touring set for sale in a few weeks if anyone is interested.
I went with the stock headpipes and slip-on mufflers.
Never done business withAmerican Classic Motorsor even heard of them. I just ordered the V&H oval slip-ons from M&M Cycles for $406.99 plus shipping.
American classic is a good company, good prices fast shipping, also try eastern performance cycles, they had the best price on ovals and free shipping. I have slipons, but true duals are good, you will loose a little low end torque and id be sure they had bungs for the 02sensors if you plan on keeping them.
I bought Turn down slip ons and Dressers Duals for my RKC and did a lot of shopping and found these folks http://www.gopartsdirect.com/2005/on...Placeholder=36 the free shipping made a net price diferance. I also got a Fuel pack from them.
i hate to be the dissenting opinion here, but i will not do business with acm. i have heard too many horror stories of their customer service. if everything goes right, great, but if there's a problem, they slam you with negative feedback, call you a terrorist (whats that about) or a moron.... yes they have lots of good feedback, but they have lots of negative as well.
just for reference, i bought a set of v&h big shots from zanottis for 534.00
I bought both my V&H Ovals and the Dresser Duals from Eastern Performance Cycles. I don't remember what I paid for the Ovals ( a while ago), but I just got my Duals from their eBay store for $287 and free shipping. They are awesome!! Shipping is fast! Customer service so far has been top notch!
BTW, I love my Dresser Duals w/ Ovals! May not be the choice for performance, but look, sound and elimination of heat makes it worth it to me!!
I would have to second the opinion on Eastern Performance.
I have had nothing but good luck with them (fast, cheap, & friendly).
Looking on their site I see the Ovals going for $399 with no tax/free shipping. http://www.easternperformance.com/in...roducts_id=176
Looks like the head pipes are going for $313 (Dresser Duals), again, no tax/free shipping.
Cyborg Cycles has ALWAYS treated me well on exhaust stuff... free shipping, and lowest prices I've found on the net. I HAD ovals on my ultra. They sound good idling. But I picked up a tinny rattle/popping noice on accel and decel. A buddy had them on his RK Custom. We noticed that about each others bikes when we were riding. After a dump on the bike, I switched to Kerker slip-ons, and picked up 4 HP and Torque. I'm still running the V&H true dual header pipe.
I put the full setup on my RG and it's in for a dyno now. Bought the set up at Phat Performance parts. FREE shipping and fast service. I paid right around $700 give or take. Sound and heat elimination were my prime reasons and after tons of reading, loosing a small amount of performance in my minds eye is worth it.
