Default Garmin 550 & 450

Maybe this has been talked about but i didnt find some of my questions answered. I found a mountian of info reguarding the GPS on reviews. The 550 dont have a speaker. The only way you will here what its saying is through a blue tooth. Yea that really works with 70 mph winds in your face so thats out. So theres a mp3. Already got one. Besides you dont have a play list on the 550. It does have XM and thats pretty cool but my radio picks up a lot anyway so i really dont think i will use it. I here a lot of people complain about the LITTLE motorcycle being TO BIG . So whats the reason now to buy a 550 ????? The 450 has everything but the stuff you really dont need anyway.
So has anyone on here got the garmin ? And in your opinion from users that use a GPS system, which is the best ?

Thanks guys.

My Garmin 330 is easy to follow w/o having hear it. I expand the view so I can "see" way on down the road. Haven't had a problem seeing it or using it. It does do a "bong" sound as you are approaching a road you have to turn onto. Because you're often in town, doing 35-40, I have no problem hearing the sound and can sometiimes even hear the voice talking.

Thats another thing about the garmin 550. You cant zoom from the front page. You have to go back . I really dont like that. I will have to say Honda has a DAM good GPS system. It will turn down the volume and give prompts and talk to you where you can here it. Wish i could find that with Harley.

No im not. To be honest im turning away from it. I dont need blue tooth and XM radio. The 450 seems the way to go or find another unit better.

Just wondered. The 330 wasn't my original idea. Some bikers on another forum recommended it. There were several others that tempted me too - the TomTom to name one.

the Zumo has another thing going for it. It is designed for Motorcyle use. Waterproof, element proof, vibration resistant etc.

I don't understand the comment about not being able to zoom? It's got a plus and minus overlay on the top corners of the screen? Do you have the latest 3.2update?

550 over 450 is basically text to voice bluetooth, and the 550 comes with both car and auto mounts.

for me i still see the 550 as a better buy for my purposes, since i get the trafficNav with the XM and also the weather forecast. Bluetooth is a ho hum kinda thng for me. Love the ability to move between my cage and Ultra. Text to voice is really nice since you don't have to take your eyes off the road as much.

Ah use the 2610 - an' when ah say "use", that means both on the bike AND in the truck, so it gits 'bout 35,000 miles a year put on it guidin' me whar ah'm goin'. Weather resistant, shock resistant, an' easy ta use IMO. They're also purty cheap right now for the refurbed units - 'bout 325 bucks delivered. Google "garmin 2610 refurbished"...

The Zumo 550 can be hooked up to the Aux port and be heard thru the speakers or headset. The built in MP3 player does in fact have a play list and with a 2 gig card one can load hours of music. It's easy to use right out of the box, and comes with all you need to hook up to your bike or car/truck. I'm happy with mine! I have a Street Pilot III for sale if anyone is interested.
