i have a new windshield due here tomorrow from cee bailey.....thats my last hope to get rid of the wind buffeting and if it doesnt work, RK conversion here i come....my only other option is to set fire to it (kidding)..
i hope that i can sell my take off parts on ebay for enough to take up the slack....since i want a black nacelle, maybe someone with a late model police bike will swap me the tank etc, that i need....i bought a factory parts book and trying to decide if i want to jump on it...im down to one bike now, so i need to get my ducks in a row, so that i dont have much down time and miss riding, as i ride most everyday....i have a brand new corbin solo seat that will no longer fit also and i will probably replace it with a police seat...back to the drawing board....thanks again to the forum members that keep giving me advice...
If buffeting is the reason for you wanting to do the conversion, I fail to see how anFLHR is gonna offer more wind protection than an FLHT.[&:] I understand about the potential dangers of looking THROUGH the windshield butit would certainly be cheaper thanthe expense you are about to incur. I have a 12" CEE BAILEY and if this is what you ordered(or shorter),don't put the conversion manual up just yet as you will take more windthan the stock offering.
Wind issomething I HATE to feel continuously during my rides as we ride great distances andthe FLHT is theDistance WindProtection King.......handsdown. I'd spend some time on an FLHR before I made my final decision if it were me and wind buffeting is the ONLY reason for wanting to convert.
im not looking for wind protection...of my 8 harleys, only one had a windshield and with a ff helmet i love it!...riding without a shield, i dont get any buffeting, just air pressure, which i use to my advantage.. i like a slightly foward leaning position and with the air pressure, it neutralizes the weight on my hands..i had the bright idea, that i was going to do a lot of two up riding and wanted it to be easier on my passenger....this wind buffeting, is bobbing my head all over the place and my glasses bounce on my face with the face shield open..
UPDATE: my cee bailey arrived today and i went for a ride...it was much improved over the other shields...thanks to those who suggested it...however, its still not what i want, but at least it got me out of panic mode...i still want to make the conversion, but now i wont be in such a hurry...i think that if i post a notice, that eventually someone will want to swap with me....thanks again for the info...
